Ford encourages families to spend Thanksgiving together by getting jobs at same indoor restaurant

I love the Beaverton, but unfortunately the premise behind this satirical article -- the contradiction that is re-opening the economy when it's not really safe to do so -- just gives more ammo to all the morons who want to act like Covid-19 is over.

Let's face it: Most workplaces require us to wear masks (and if they don't, they should). If you hang out with family or friends in your home or theirs, you're likely getting TRUE close contacts... because you're not wearing a mask.

The definition of a close contact is someone you're within six feet of for 15 or more minutes, without masking.

I work in a school and am in the camp that says we should close schools once the virus starts to re-assert itself. I'd be a hypocrite if I gathered with family or friends this Thanksgiving.

Why put each other at risk right now?

I go to work because I have to... and I wear a mask and keep my distance; I also spend my day giving reminders to my students and trying to keep them safe, too.

We all need to stop looking for exploits, contradictions, and loopholes, if we truly want to prevent this virus from really taking over our lives.

Yes, we're all pawns in the corporate agenda here. No doubt. But that's no reason to be stupid or reckless right now.
