I had an interesting thought the other day.

There’s thousands of young men who signed contacts to the Army and Marine Corps willing to go to war with a near peer threat, absolutely risk their lives, and in the face of all this are completely and utterly motivated to the point where the only reason they stick it out in the infantry is in the HOPE they get their chance to go to war.

Hear me out. How about we take some of these brave, selfless men and women, build on their training with superior MOUT/CQB training as opposed to the the threats they could potentially face (training on geometries of fire and proper weapons handling is already ingrained into the average infantryman, but additional CQB tactics in the presence of civilians would certainly increase survivability) Equip them them with what they are already familiar with taking into combat, and let them loose on active threats.

Like I thought of this as a joke at first. Like you’d get a squad of marines and let them loose and the dude who drops the gunman first gets a box of crayons.

But seriously think about it. there are thousands of infantrymen and not to mention SF operators who would do absolutely ANYTHING for a shot at seeing combat. That’s already a HUGE selection pool of military personnel with experience and training. With some follow on training and selection processes in place you could literally have a hit squad for internal threats. Hell every member of the US military swore and oath against all threats foreign and domestic. Why not let soldiers/marines/operators who actually are willing to risk their lives, who signed up to risk their lives and kill in the name of the US get what the frick they want as long as it’s done the right way and preservation of life is prioritized at all costs?

At the end of it all it’s an order of magnitude safer than going to all our war on an entire combat deployment in country. Especially a war with a near peer threat like Russia, China etc etc.
