There's a few people in this thread, in the other, occupying a narrow slice of middle ground that I appreciate. This comment fits there perfectly.

See, I love the fact that they are publicly spouting their nonsense. It makes it easy to identify the idiots. What is sadly lacking, so far, is an abundance of people laughing at them when they do.

Instead, sadly, we have people taking them seriously, wringing their hands about what to do with all the racists. What to do with them? It's the 21st century! Let them rot in their idiocy. The world is moving beyond them.

Also, don't give them any more 'weight' than they deserve. I think the news makes it seem like there is some huge resurgence in racists. There really isn't. They are a loud minority. Honestly, aside from laughing at them, the real best solution would be to just stop talking about them entirely. News media should stop attending their events, pointing cameras at them. We should all stop talking about them entirely. Just let them rot and fade away.

If you have to react though, laughter is most appropriate. They are clowns.
