Former NYPD commissioner claims 600 officers considering exit from the force amid George Floyd protests - ENM NEWS

I just did the math.

There are around 55,000 employees of the NYPD. 36,000 of those are officers, the rest are civilian employees.

Rank and file get to claim retirement after just 20 years on the force, or even earlier if they started on the job after their 35th birthday. With some choosing to stay longer and some starting older in life, let's run with the 20 years.

36,000 officers with a 20 year work span means 1,800 new officers to replace the retired ones every year. Or 150 a month.

So four month's worth of soon-to-be-retirees are thinking of leaving right about now... and this is different from every single month beforehand for NYPD officers (and indeed every other job in America) how, exactly?!? This is news how, exactly?!?
