Former President Donald Trump has been acquitted by the Senate in his second impeachment trial. What are the ramifications going forward (for politics, near-term elections, etc)?

I was worried about Kamala Harris and picking her swayed me back to trump

This reasoning just baffles me. After everything Trump has done, what in God's name could Kamela have done to justify picking Trump over Biden with her as a possible president (since afterall, she's just the VP).

Honestly, this just feels like you were looking for a reason to vote for Trump. I personally think that you would have voted for Trump regardless of who Biden picked as VP. Do you think that's an accurate analysis? Because I can't make heads or tails of it. I mean the man literally threatened to withhold military aid from Ukraine unless they announced(not opened! They explicitly mentioned that it only needed to be announced!) a literal investigation into his political opponent which would have undoubtedly helped Trump's re-election and yet here we are, still acting like this is some kind of policy difference.

Please help me understand. I've been talking to both of my parents who are Trump supporters for 4 years, to my people in my rural town in Missouri for 4 years, and I just don't get it. In the end, it just seems to be an irrational hatred of Democrats that is no different than an irrational hatred for Republicans.
