Fort Worth Police Officer Fatally Shoots Woman Inside Her Home

You're doing the right thing. Act normal, not worried, and definitely not prideful. Just be normal. If they talk to you, comply as best you can. Yes, you have an advantage by being female, and yes I know why he said it, but understand where I'm coming from (I'm probably more on your side than the guy who wrote that)

I grew up in a middle class white family in a good neighborhood. We were taught that they are good and that they are there to protect us. I quickly learned that was a lie.

16 years old, arrested for possible burglary because my hand was bleeding from some broken glass that I accidentally leaned on. Released the next day.

17 years old, pulled over four a tail light being out. The light worked perfectly, but the officer used it as an excuse to claim I had been drinking (I wasn't).

19 years old -- cornered in a dead end road, yanked from car and had a gun to my head while they ransacked my car.

20 years old -- gun drawn and told to leave town because I was performing emergency car repairs in a lit parking lot at night.

I've been pulled over counteless times and received a lot of tickets from different areas of the state. Only two out which was actually earned.

I'm not saying that my experiences are any worse than anyone else's, and I know that blacks are being targeted. My point is that everyone is getting the short end of the stick and we all need to pull together on this. Too many people are losing property, lifestyle, and lives. We can get more done if we stop bickering amongst ourselves
