I look forward to going home..

Last evening and earlier today, I was asked by women (barbecue vendors and the bank teller) about how it is being a firefighter, and how our training affected us seeing that women have to cut their hair short like a male's. It was nice of them to ask about how it is for us, women, in this line of service. Though I am super fine with having this hairstyle (only grew my hair to shoulder level), fairly many firewomen felt intimidated or horrible after feeling the first snip of shears on the hair they kept long for most of their life. Many women are brave enough to plunge to the adventures and hardships this service entails, but there are some of us who always had to pray hard to survive every challenging day. Except for the lesbians, the training never made us feel less of a woman. Instead, it made us feel honoured to be given the opportunity to work in this previously-dominated line of work, and made us see we, men and women, can work together without competition.
