I found a missing person. What do I do to ensure she returns safely to her parents?

Actually, I can tell you for certain that, at least in my state, police can involuntarily commit someone to a hospital or mental healthcare facility for a mental health evaluation without any criminal offense. The person can remain there for up to 72 hours, which is how long the facility has to conduct the evaluation. At that point, the doctor can decide that there is sufficient cause to hold the person for longer, or release them. The hold can be short too though (it doesn’t need to be 72 hours), if the mental health evaluation is done right away and the doc determines there is no cause to keep them they can be released in short order.
