Sounds to me like your company doesn't have a clear set of values. This is a bad sign for you as an employee and also for a potential customer or other potential interests, such as a supplier.

In 2020 this kind of slander etc is expected to be pretty much non existing, as everybody knows by now, that this is not tolerated in a working environment or anywhere else. If it still contines, then it pretty much is a choice by those involved. When they chose this behaviour I guess they are ready to face the problems that they might encounter because of it. Let's just hope so, for their own sake, because they might have to look for other jobs when this company's secret slander group chats about their own employees and potentially also their suppliers etc., becomes public and everybody turns their back on them.

This is how 2020 works. If you chose to ignore basic human rights and you don't uphold important values, you will be ignored and excluded in return.
