Found out my (M 21) ex (F 21) is engaged after 3 months.

Yeah I'll air out the story here because you're the only one so far that hasn't levied an accusation of some kind or made a jump to conclusions.

My wife at the time was in a long distance relationship with a guy who lived in another country where she used to live. About 6 or so months after moving to America we met and hit it off instantly. We started casually seeing each other and one night we had sex. I told her she needed to leave her boyfriend because I wanted to date her. About a week or so later she did.

We (obviously) talked a lot about her relationship and what it meant to her and what things that she wanted in a relationship and was or was not getting out of it. It was clear to us that our goals were much more compatible and our chemistry was phenomenal. Some 8 months later I was still waiting for the honeymoon phase to end and I realized it wasn't so I asked her to marry me.

A lot of people immediately think that people who cheat are evil or bad. I'm certainly glad I didn't think that way about her because she is more amazing than any woman I have ever met. I don't feel bad for what I did, either. I know some people may think it lacks empathy to pursue someone in a relationship but since we are both happier because of it- I don't think I should regret it. Sometimes people find a better match. It happens. Some people even ask if I'm afraid that she would ever cheat on me. Its a ridiculous question, of course not, or else I wouldn't marry her. The people that ask are always people who are afraid their SO would cheat. Its kind of sad to look ate people and judge like that.

The woman is my soul mate. The fact that our relationship stemmed from adversity allowed us to move through many phases of a new relationship quickly as we both needed to be perfectly clear what we wanted out of it. I have no regrets and no reservations about the entire thing.
