Found this pretty interesting.

I can't remember if my other CFC post is up on r/soccer but I tried conveying this idea and it did well over there - who, literally who, gets as much value from their investments compared to us? City spend hundreds of millions, but they aren't sweeping up league titles beyond our own power; they've done nothing in Europe. United spend hundreds of millions, and remain struggling and climbing. Liverpool spend a couple hundred million, with their biggest trophy being reaching a final. We spend (fewer) hundreds of millions - and basically win shit every damn season. It doesn't matter how much you are or aren't spending if you don't win anything in return. That's where Madrid's spending is justified. That's where our spending is justified. Watch other teams start spending as much as we always have, more than we always have - yet not getting the same silverware. Because there's more to this than Big fee players = Successful title coups.
