I found this "What Percent Are You" tool on WSJ's website

I did similar research about my country a while ago as I wanted to know if I'm earning the average or how far away I'm from it in any direction. At first glance it turned out I am above average with my income so I automatically expected I'd earn more than a little of half the population.

The thing I never had given any thought about is what the gap between rich and poor means in everday life. As figures showed you have to distinguish between the median and the average income.

So, in my country, if you earn the average income, you are in the top 35% as the income at the top end pulls the average of the population up. The many, many people working at the bottom end with minimum wage can't outweigh the high incomes at the other end, so the "average income" is beyond reach for 65% of the population. I never thought about that and it really stunned me.
