The Fox News controversy, as a method to attack the NBA similarly to the NFL, will not work.

If anyone is gonna make fun of "our" (as fans) athletes, it's going to be us. And we're gonna be funny about it. Maybe a little ruthless at times too. Maybe we will continue to DESTROY Kevin Durant for going to Golden State forever. Maybe we'll (not me because I'm a homer) fault LeBron for going to Miami. Maybe we'll shake our heads at what Westbrook wears. Maybe we'll torch Elfrid Payton about his hair. Maybe we'll keep poking fun at Harden for single handedly keeping the Houston strip clubs afloat. Maybe we'll make jokes about Dwight having 15 kids with 13 different baby mamas. Or maybe we'll continue to call Kyrie Flat Mamba.

But at no point will we see them as subhuman, undeserving of having a voice. And when the racists start with this trash that they need to keep their mouths shut, I hope we all rally in support. This stuff is bigger than basketball. This is about the young kids in America that grow up thinking that's how the power dynamic should be. The world needs successful black athletes using their platform to make a difference. And I don't see anyone more poised for making these political stances than LeBron specifically.
