Freddy Heineken's 1992 proposal for a 'United States of Europe'

“It brings no benefit to the large states which harbor the majority of the people, industry, and wealth of the nation.”

Right, so it is just about people from urban areas being pissed they don’t control everything.

I’m not going to bother arguing with you anymore because you’ve clearly got a very simplistic idea of the ways contributing to the country occurs. It’s not just “people, industry, and wealth”. Not to mention a lack of appreciation for why the senate doing any of those things you propose would just result in new senators (a reason the 6 year terms are staggered—no one can avoid to just play obstructionist when a significant percentage are always close to an election). The nation was formed and expanded in balance. The balance in the Constitution weighs all factors and comes up with the best possible compromise. Your proposals would just lead to more in-fighting, all so even more power can go to those in only a few places.
