Free Agency

Adreian Payne is a superstar in waiting, and the timberwolves are thwarting his development immensely. I think that we should give him some playing time near the end of the year to showcase his skills and then try to deal him in the offseason. I think that we could deal him and multiple first round picks to the Hawks in a sign and trade for al horford. I know what you might be thinking, that's a lot to give up for an aging big man who's dreams of carrying his team to a larry O'Brian trophy are long gone, but bear with me please.

Any timerwolves fan knows of the travesty that the KG trade was. Now..... imagine you were on the other side of the equation. The t wolves could easily turn into the late 2000's C's, except younger. Rubio is like rondo except not a shitty teammate. Lavine is turning into a bona-fide sniper from beyond the arc. Obviously he will never ever be at ray allen level shooting, but he is more explosive and aggressive than role player ray was with the Celtics.

Wiggins doesn't have the same killer instinct that Pierce did but the similarities are there. Both were swingmen at kansas. Both were noticeably more assertive with their athleticism in college (eg they don't seem as explosive to rim) and a willingness to take mid range jumpers. I think wiggins could be better at taking the ball to the rim. He has shown that when he wants to get to the rim he can, but he doesn't seem to want to do it all that often.

Towns is obviously the best big man prospect since like duncan or shaq or someone. He already scores at a high rate and a high percentage. Has the tools to step outside and knock down jumpers. As t wolves fans I'm sure many of you have seen the set we run to get towns the baseline mid range J. Towns has moves on the block too. His legs look a little small to take the abuse at the center position, and I don't think you tell the best player to play for your franchise since 06-07 KG to increase his weight and slow him down. Plus, he doesn't have too!

With al horford holding down the fort in the middle we have another nimble bodied big who is just as adept finishing pick and rolls at the rim, as he is popping out and knocking down a J or hitting the sealing post in a high low situation. This also let's us keep dieng on the bench to provide our second group with a much needed scoring option beside shabazz (now that zach is our starting 2).

Of course, that group still might not be good enough to even get to the second rd of the playoffs because the second group is still pretty shitty. Who knows, maybe instead of trading this year's first for horford we have to unload a couple future firsts or muhammad or another prospect. Maybe horford some how buys into living in the shitty minnesota winters, signs with us out of his own will, and we are able to use our first rd pick on Hield or Dunn to provide another solid yet potentially electrifying player to our second unit? All I know is that al horford would he a dream pickup for the timberpups.
