That’s not what TAMU did at all with respect to strategy.

Early reports were that they were unaware of the planned expansion and fucking pissed about it. Then reports came out that certain individuals did know and were accepting of it. Then the SEC members had a bunch of closed-door meetings. Finally, a unanimous vote to extend an invitation.

It’s pretty clear that 1 of 2 things happened: (1) TAMU was pissed but told to fall in line with the rest of the conference so they could provide a united front; or (2) TAMU knew all along and put on a show for their fanbase.

We’re absolutely witnessing the birth of some sort of super league /split from the NCAA through the SEC. TAMU is one of the 10 most valued brands in college football, so they are absolutely in this to cash some checks and be a member of whatever that super league eventually looks like.

I’m sorry, but a lot of people on this sub are delusional in thinking TAMU was ever going to prevent this or that the top schools (us included) are actively moving toward an expanded SEC.
