French President Macron: "I always prefer having direct discussion" ; “For better burden sharing we need more Europe. The big mistake would be for Europeans to increase budgets to buy American or other arms. If we increase our budget it’s to build our autonomy.”

Europeans are upset when the United States plays the 'world police.'

Europeans are upset when the United States doesn't play the world police.

Imagine the outrage if the United States moved 50% of its forces out of Europe and back to the US. Leaders would have an anuerism and say that the US is abandoning their allies.

The US gains nothing from the wars in the middle east. I'm all for reducing military spending and allocating those resources domestically. I have a feeling that European leadership would be extremely nervous of the threat that Russia and China pose.

Without nukes, could the EU defend themselves against Russia and China without the US's help? No chance.
