they have no voice and can do nothing because the occupation and colonisation has beaten them down. they live off of whatever scraps israel and the world throws their way. there are no jobs, no money, they don’t have shit.
the west bank held elections, fatah (a secular party) came to power and said they recognized israel as a country and would disarm themselves (they used to have an armed resistance wing like hamas). what good did that do them? israel fucks them over again and again. more and more of the west bank is being colonized everyday by the zionists. recently an entire village was declared an military firing zone and a judge who ironically lives on colonised land (or settlement if you prefer the more benign term) upheld the government order. this is the mo for israel, declare an area of palestine military firing zone, kick everybody out, build settlements later.
hamas, on the other hand, for all their criticism has managed to hold on the gaza strip, albeit paying a heavy price. who do you think the average citizen who has been beaten down and dehumanized for 70+ years would pick if elections were held now? also the word terrorist has lost all meaning these days, anybody who is not aligned with the west is a terrorist and if they are, they’re resistance fighters. hamas targets civilians, so does the israeli army. israel doesn’t punish their soldiers for killing civilians, nor does the pa (fatah). what’s the difference? the pa doesn’t reward them, their families are paid a pension as long as they are in prison. israel doesn’t need to do that because they never send their soldiers to prison for killing innocent civilians. just a couple months ago, a 4 year old kid was killed by israel in gaza, they called it collateral damage and moved on. they fucking bombed the press offices of the associated press and said fuck off. they assassinated a journalist (who was christian btw so they can’t even claim she was a radical islamist) and said fuck off. so like i said, it’s all a matter of perspective.
so anyway, comments like yours justify the actions of israel. like if they improved their human rights and democracy, israel would magically disappear from the colonized territory. like it’s their fault they’re still being colonized. that’s the effect of zionist propoganda, look at these people, they’re uncivilized anyway, they don’t have democracy, they don’t care about human rights, they don’t deserve freedom, they’re better off living under our rule. don’t fall into that trap.
