[FRESH ] J. Cole - Want You to Fly

As much as I love Kendrick's music, that guy is fucking overrated, here me out.

Nobody's gonna dig through soundcloud looking for 'credible' rappers. When people are talking about rappers that are currently in the game, it's usually assumed that we're talking about the top 20-30 in terms of relevance who show up in the charts at least once a year and are generally known by everyone.

Based on this assumption, around 80%+ of this list currently consists of the likes of lil uzi, yatchy, desiigner etc since they appeal more to pop culture and it makes sense from a record label's perspective to keep investing in them, and there's only a small number of rappers in that list such as Joey badass and Kendrick that people would class as credible.

However, If this list was dominated by 'real' rappers rather than mumble rappers, then Kendrick's value would be way less than it is now simply due to supply and demand.

Right now, anyone that wants to listen to 'real' hip hop doesn't have a choice but to listen to Kendrick, however, if there were 25 rappers like Kendrick talking about the same subjects that he's talking about right now, the people that currently have his new album on repeat might only listen to it twice and go back to listening to another credible rapper because they like his flow better or his from the same city as them.

So, as dope as Kendricks music is, the reason his music is over-indexed is because there is a lack of options in the current top 30 list.
