Pakistani music; do you guys remember Music '89? That shit was groundbreaking. I was a little kid, but my parents let me stay up till late to watch it. That was probably the first concert I ever saw (I mean, still on TV).

Then there was this show on NTM/STN called Music Channel Charts, or MCC for short. That was also amazing. Lots of amazing new talent suddenly came out. Everything from synthpop to stuff like Dr Aur Billa.****

Junoon was the freaking best. "Azadi" is one of my favorite albums of all time. Kind of like a Desi "Led Zeppelin III" in the way it melds electric and acoustic guitars.

But then Nirvana hit. I was never the same. The early to mid 90s had a whole crop of ludicrously amazing albums. Pearl Jam released Ten, Vs, Vitalogy and No Code. Alice In Chains had the best 'grunge' album with Dirt.

But yeah, anyone remember Virgin Air and Off Beat in Lahore? That was my little piece of heaven right here on earth. I had a 90 minutes TDK cassette that I got from one of those shops with Dark Side Of The Moon on one side and Wish You Were Here on the other. Then you get a Walkman that flips the side once the tape finishes and viola! Infinite Floyd!

Also, the live music scene was amazing in Lahore. Alhamra regularly hosted live shows. And so many good bands! Coven still survives even today in some form. I'm forgetting the name of this one band, started with an S, that played a whole convert of Pink Floyd covers.

Also, people forget that Entity and Paradigm were two different bands that sort of merged into EP to make a Desi Linkin Park.

I could go on. I love music. Music is the best. FZ.
