Friend got charged by a heart-shot boar. Filmed the whole thing. [X-post from /r/hunting]

I'm not a big fan of studies. They are not indicative of real world experience and are not applicable to everyone. There are also too many variables to take into account.

If we take an archer like Byron or Hill (Of which killed an Elk at around 120 yards if I can recall correctly) these guys and other archers that have refined their skills can hit the kill zone on a consistent basis from very far distances.

This study might of been only looking at average Joe's that only shoot once a week or once a month.

There's no way in hell I'd hunt a bear from 18 yards, that's just insane in my opinion. I'd shoot for 60 yards with a bear and try to get him to stand.

I'm just curious what made you want to go out and hunt and kill a bear? You know you are risking your life doing so right? Also, what do you gain from eating bear meat vs an animal that is not so dangerous such as white tail deer or rabbit?

Lastly hopefully I hope the guy in this video was hunting because hes going to eat all of the meat from the boar and truely needed it. I CAN NOT STAND these so called "game hunters" that kill just for the sake of killing and they eat hardly any of the meat. I could never understand how sickening ones mindset would need to be to pay a large sum of money to go travel to other country's to kill animals such as polar bears, lions, elephants and so on.

Makes no damn sense besides showing that they either have small man's disease or are sick in the head. The same thing goes for people that claim they kill all of these medium to large sized game throughout the year and photograph themselves with their kill.

Hunting was done out of necessity, if he and you hunt because you would rather eat clean wild meat for you and your family vs supporting the corrupt animal farming industry than you have my respect 100%,
