Friendly reminder.

Am I missing something? We’re on /insaneparents and it’s a list of things parents shouldn’t do right? I feel like tons of people here have shitty childhoods. Everyone here seems to be taking the list as separate, once in a while situations, but these are common problems for children in abusive environments. It’s not “watch your sister while we go out,” it’s being more of a parent to your sister than her own parent. It’s not really “he’ll figure out how to get out of that box on his own” it’s getting bitch slapped by society over and over because everyone else knows this basic shit that you’re still struggling with.

Obviously there are times where your children have to help. I just don’t understand where people get confused between “this is okay sometimes” and “it’s not okay for this to be your child’s entire life”
