Friendly Reminder for USA farmers

I’ve got a family member with 10 acres, he was more than willing to allow me to turn it into a farm. Until we found out that Nevada hasn’t sold any new water rights since 2007 or something like that. Meaning you can only buy rights from someone who already owns them, and the prices are literally insane. The lowest price we got from a local broker was $225,000 for 4 acres. Yep. It’s cheaper to start a cannabis cultivation plant, which uses typically double to triple the amount of water a normal outdoor “farm” would use, in Nevada and use City water, because for some reason you can use as much as you want living inner city! It’s atrocious. Really destroyed my want to pursue farming.
