“Friendship breakups” hurt more than actual breakups.

Yeah. I cut ties with my best friend around when my mom was dying.

I know it wasn't reconcilable. She had begun avoiding me while also appropriating my family's "tragedy" on her own social media, hyping up how dramatic and "hard" it was for her, even while she hadn't spoken to or seen me in months (a feat, considering she was also my roommate). I even later reached out in a moment of weakness after my mom's death, having seen a particularly emotional post of hers about how sad she was and how she'd had a dream in which she told me she was sorry. Nope. She still ignored me. I guess it's hard to accept that sometimes people you think you know just get shitty.

It was like I lost two people I cared about, though. It fucking sucked.
