From MoonGel to SunGel...

Maybe this isn't obvious as I thought, but my comments thus far reflect my opinion on something that is clearly subjective (the sound of your drums), and thus, are voicing my preferences, not hating on you or anyone else because you aren't doing it my way or have a difference of opinion. That's fine, you do you. there's not a damn thing wrong with moongels.

The comments about tuning are pretentious and willfully close-minded.

Yes because tuning clearly doesn't do anything to the sound of the drum /s

I don't really see how buying hydraulics is kosher but moongels aren'

Because hydraulics - in my opinion - sound better while also reducing sustain compared to moongels.

Yes, moongels are less of a hassle. But so is tape, and regardless of whether or not I'm dampening heads, I always have tape. Which for me, just makes moongels something else to buy. Drums are expensive enough as is. My comment about wanting a second kit isn't because "fuck moongels" but because I would really like a second kit so I don't have to keep tearing down and setting up the home/recording kit andtThe gig set I wouldn't care as much about the minor tonal differences, or appearance between moongel, tape, or hydraulics as compared to the kit that I spend most of my time playing on and recording with.
