From the perspective of conservatives, is the political divide between liberals based on more than just differences in policies and philosophy? Or are other critical factors at play here, like personality and psychology?

As we have seen before, it is not unusual to see, based on demographics and data, voters in counties or even entire states vote for conservative candidates and against their own self-interests. Is it possible that lots of people just don't want to associate with what they perceive to be a group of rude people and just feel more welcome within the GOP party?

I always have this hunch that liberals, in a general sense, come off as arrogant, condescending, and non-inclusive. I can easily envision many people with a constant feeling of social apprehension with their opinions around liberals because of a fear they will be passively lampooned based on their level of education, a belief in faith, or their small-town values.

It also seems to me that conservatives are much more socially welcoming to people regardless of your levels of eloquence or intellect.

I'm sure I'll be downvoted all to hell just like all my other posts on this sub, but your observations mirror my real world experience of living as a progressive in the US South for 35 years. The conservative groups, no matter how open I am about finding them repugnant, are far more welcoming than the elitist, arrogant faux-liberal shills who offer nothing but distain for anybody who doesn't fall immediately in line with whatever cheap whine they are serving. Proof of what I say can be found by looking at the downvotes that are evident in my user history on this subreddit for pointing out well known facts that do not coincide with so called liberal bias.

The defenders of the Democratic Party belie their ideals and really are arrogant, condescending, and non-inclusive. If they weren't, they would easily dominate the discussion as the logical choice. But, because of their arrogance and willingness to subvert all dissenting voices, they are rapidly becoming more hated than their opposition. This sub offers lots of proof of that in the making.
