I'm sorry that you feel reduced by my comment. I was simply saying that I disagree with people you have heard say that butch people are ugly; just as theirs is their opinion, mine is mine. There are a lot of different themes in your post- masculinity, treatment, privilege, possible generalizations of femmes about their view of butches, internalized homophobia, presentation, and perception... there are a lot of issues to sift through there, and maybe a lot of unpacking to do. It was more of a simple 'I'm working, but here's a nice thought' comment. I was only offering my superficial commiseration, hoping that until I had something deeper to say that was more helpful, it would help. Obviously you weren't on the same page, which is fine. Maybe you need to look at why this is so upsetting to youb I understand, but I prefer to let them know my views, and be on my way.
