Frustrated with GTA Online

I'm mostly playing with friends which honestly makes the game infinitely better. After level 12 I started doing a lot of heists. I think they are a bit more engaging than most of the other activities. I also do survivals and last team standing to space things out. Then you have the money you earn doing these activities, part of the fun of the game is buying new things. It really is awesome when you save up a bunch of money and buy that new apartment you wanted or that bad ass car. Even minor upgrades to your guns or cars add to a sense of progression. You get further, unlock more things, and it gets more interesting and fun. I don't know what level you are but the first 10 or so levels are rather boring.

I think they made a mistake giving everyone so much money right at the start of the game. I appreciate it, being that I played on 360 and don't want to start from square one, but it really spoils you. You buy a good apartment, a great car, some weapons, and some clothes, but eventually you manage to spend it all. There are other things to buy but you have everything you need. Now the problem is that the next thing you want to buy might be 600k and you are level 1 making a few thousand from a mission and it seems impossibly far away. You don't start off wanting to buy that gun for 10k or some new clothes for a few thousand. You don't save up 100k for you first good car and get that thrill of finally having it. You don't save up what seems a massive sum of 300k for that cool apartment you really want. In the process of all this you would level and have access to more options in game. Eventually 100k wouldn't seem like that much. Suddenly that 600k thing that seemed impossible at level 1 is just a few days of modest play.
