For anyone that is interested in exactly how this happened.

AI works in such a way that you throw training data against it. It effectively classifies this data into "good" and "bad". My theory here is that whomever trained this AI, trained it with information without gender related to it. Gender neutral information if you like. This could be typical information such as hobbies, personality type, skillset etc which would be good for whatever job they were specifically hiring for. When they turned on the AI, it decided to hire men ( - without bias in regards to gender) because they were suited best for the jobs in question. It wasn't trained to fill diversity quotas etc. It was just trained to hire the best person for the job.
