Reminds me so much of my honours supervisors in undergrad trying to publish my thesis into a manuscript. Every second lab meeting I got feedback that contradicted itself. Something that was okay in one draft wasn’t okay in the other. And the DISCUSSION don’t get me started omg. The supervisors very clearly wanted me to say something in particular but they were not telling me - each draft I did it was such vague feedback being like “you’re on the right track” “make it more broad” etc, and even when I asked for clarification they did not offer more guidance. I get they want this to be a learning opportunity for me but like… do you want the paper published or not?? I ended up ghosting the project once I got into grad school because it was just so stressful and irrelevant to my new research field that I frankly couldn’t be bothered.
