Fuck online releases [rant]

I dunno man...producing more pairs lessens the demand for the product. 'Enough' pairs of any one of these shoes would result in more sales racks and outlets. No one wants their products on sales racks...not the early buyers, not the late buyers, not the brands...only casual buyers like things on sales racks, and casual buyers are not the people that drive your brand forward. Supply vs. demand to a T.

This is just flat out wrong. LeBron has been the highest grossing athlete in sports for about a decade and 90% of the colorways of his shoes hit sales racks. There would also not be a ton of shoes sitting. People would double up on shoes and also we would have the ability to return/exchange shoes if they didn't fit or had a defect. The Retros people are lining up and fighting for were all released in super high quantities at one time and the demand is definitely there.

There are dozens of shoes right now produced in high quantities that still have demand and sell out regularly: Roshes, Boosts, Tubulars, Kobe's, KD's, Air Max, Frees, Janoskis, etc

Nobody is saying open the floodgates and make millions of every colorway, but the demand is clearly higher than the supply. Let's look at Jordan Brand. They could increase production a decent amount and still sell out. Also, Jordan Brand still has an outlet problem as pretty much all CP3s, BGs. Melo's, J1 Mids, Jordan Flights, Hybrids, and annual Jordans (XX8, XX9, etc) all hit outlet regularly. It makes no sense to keep producing the shoes nobody buys in high quantities, while making popular products in low quantities. All they are doing is pushing people toward other brands

Brands and stores could still manage a release schedule for when most ppl are out of work or school. If there aren't 10 million ppl sitting at their computers or phones at the exact same time, there is less likelihood for (1) website and cart errors (2) tailor made bots and (3) resellers won't have the same preparation for each release.

Well that's not really a blind release. People are only not in school 2 days of the week excluding holidays. Keep in mind you also have to compensate for Time Zones. When I get off work at 6 LA time, it's already 9 NY time.

Also keep in mind you need employees available to handle any server crashes a or emergencies. Server/Tech Support people are not gonna work late nights during the week or on a Sunday. I know because I'm one of them.

I'm not sure how silent releases would help resellers more. If releases were released silently and within a long enough range, it'd be kinda hard to program those bots and have them running at all times for the 'chance' of getting the shoe. And, for me, the 'thrill of the hunt' is way more fun and rewarding than getting in line or sitting around all morning on a Saturday hitting 'refresh' for something you're just 'hoping' to buy.

Silent releases help resellers more because you can still just program the bot to add to cart when Nike tweets the link. A blind release basically clears traffic for the bot. Say for example they release a shoe during the week. Me and you and the other average Joes may be at work or at lunch or in traffic or on at the movies and on and on. This leaves most pairs to the reseller.
