Rape kits definitely need to become a standard in conviction, but one problem is some rapists are really smart around all that and do all the things necessary to avoid any 'proof'. Then you have the rapists that add that to some crazy manipulation and gaslighting tactics and it gets really fucked up from there. Then it's really up to perspective, which can greatly vary from person to person. Even rape kits document vaginal tearing and bruising and whatnot, but that could be easily duplicated from a wild night. I never did anything with mine because I don't want the attention. It's awful to truly be a victim and then just get default blamed for lying about it. It just wasn't worth it, but I'm still dealing with the PTSD aspects, which sucks A LOT.
