You know, Japanese media actually does this a lot. Two young girls with subtle Yuri implications. It happens a lot in anime. What I never see are two young boys holding hands. I wish if SquareEnix was going for low hanging fruit like this, they would do something actually progressive.

That's where the thing with Ryne and Gaia remains ambiguous and why lesbian implications fall flat. Young girls who are friends may hold hands. Young boys? Not really no. tHaT wOuLd actually bE GAy.

It feels disingenuous of FFXIV twitter to implicate lesbian implications at all when we all know they are just friends. It is cheap, false pandering to LGBTQ, and it is cheap pandering to people who like Yuri. In this way, it distracts from the characters and the conflict the Oracle of Light and Oracle of Darkness have. It's just so gross and lazy of the developer to do this.
