I don’t know what state your in but I am pretty sure it’s pretty much the same across the board on this… if he is not working and not showering or taking care of himself and especially if he is depressed or claims to be you can call the police for a welfare check. You just gotta be home so he does not schmooze them. If he’s drinking or saying life is too tough you just keep stressing to the police that he needs help. Remember you are not a doctor and neither are the police. Only a doctor can evaluate him you need the police to help him get to a doctor because he “refuses.” Don’t let the police off the hook. Be firm even if they say he looks ok. He will have to have at least a 48 hour hold usually it’s 72 hours. Go get a protective order and say that he is in a hospital due to his mental state and you are afraid. Just make sure you have your ducks in a row for the final hearing then he’s out for good. Financial abuse is ABUSE. Verbal abuse is ABUSE. Destroying (ruining) just your items is ABUSE.
