THIS. FUCKING. GUY.

That's not a particularly honest analogy, you paint every terrorist as a victim of the U.S. war machine. What exactly does the murder of Coptic Christians, or Yazidis have to do what the US? How does capturing women to be chained to the bed for the "troops" to use dozens of times a day have to do with the U.S.? What about when they sell women as sex slaves, usually after killing every male member of their family have to do with US intervention?

What of the people who left western nations to join them, they weren't being blown up, they weren't victims like the people in the U.S. are? Sure you can think it is unjust, but when you see the stuff these groups do to people, torture, beheading, and lots and lots of rape, how to they justify leaving the comfort of their non-war torn country to fight.

I will cede that yes there are probably individuals who joined to fight the U.S. or the west, but do not act like these people are all poor unfortunate souls when it is fairly common when these places get raided to find children chained to beds in their homes.

I understand that it is a slippery slope when it comes down to seeing the enemy as monsters, but we aren't fighting saints that were pushed to violence. We are fighting those who behead journalist, shout their desire to kill christians, jews, other muslims and western people in general, and those who act like medieval raiders killing men, raping the women and children, and taking the weapons and valuables.

These are not large groups relative to the general populations that they exist in. But, when you kill men, women, and children and target specifically vulnerable places full of civilians it is pretty easy to not give them the benefit of the doubt and seem them all as these victims.

The reality is that if you were amongst these people, the would not hesitate to violently kill you regardless. Some may have joined out of anger and vengeance, but they are the enemy of every society on this planet, and they would proudly admit that.
