Full circle

Opposing social hierarchies is not the same as supporting their abolition. There are leftists who support abolition and those who support reduction. Hence support for the abolition of social hierarchy is not a requirement to be a leftist.

Again quoting from the article you cited:

Left-wing politics typically involves a concern for those in society whom its adherents perceive as disadvantaged relative to others as well as a belief that there are unjustified inequalities that need to be reduced or abolished.

Indeed the article says "left wing politics supports social equality and egalitarianism, often in opposition to social hierarchies". Hence opposition to social hierarchies is also not a requirement to be a leftist.

Furthermore you did a lot more than point out leftism's "core rejection of social hierarchy". And I'm going to quote you verbatim lest I'm accused of strawmanning your position.

A leftist holds hard left beliefs like communism. The ideology of leftism remains the same regardless of the current Overton window. A leftist now is going to hold very similar beliefs to a leftist in the 50s.

This is a static and exclusivist definition that contradicts the dictionary definition as well as the one described in the article.
