Full reset stuck for 17 hours

Sorry, I've been in your situation. I had to reinstall the OS after doing a reset totally hosed my system. I think you are going to have to force the system down and hope for the best.

The best solution to this issue happening again is to NOT use the MS reset or rollback feature. It is seriously flawed as are a lot of MS's 'features'.

There are tons of free backup solutions out there. Download and install one and create and test the recovery media onto a USB drive. Then do a full backup of your system to a USB drive. I do full backups once a week on all my systems.

A few months back I had a serious screw up with a product update. It totally hosed the system. It would not boot at all. I used my recovery media for my Macrium reflect and booted to it. I pointed it to the last backup I had done (I did it just minutes before applying the apps update). Total time it was down, about 15 minutes. I recovered it back to precisely where it was prior to the update and had everything in working order pronto. NOTHING beats a full backup to a USB drive.

When I setup a new laptop I install the backup program and then create 'golden' backup. If it all goes to pot during the installation and configuration of my software and settings I can recover to this backup in minutes. I used to keep the golden backups indefinitely, but with so many major updates being done it takes too long to recover from a several year old 'golden image' having to do so many updates again. So I just rely on keeping multiple backups for a few months to choose from. Multiple TB USB drives are cheap.
