Never assume someone elses intent with "what I would do". IRL golf has taught me a lot about that.

I played on an 'executive 9 hole' course a while back with an 98 year old man who played even the actual par 3's as a two shot hole. I thought he was just playing it that way because he was old but by the 5th hole he had told me he had been playing there for decades and had not want or will to go finding his ball or beat his opponent (or play a 18 hole round elsewhere), just to figure out how to get his 'par' and maybe gain a stroke more on a good day. It sounded insane and boring to me but he beat me by 4 (and that's over 9 on a short course).
