I love my locals, even though I feel like 90% of the people are super weird. There's usually a balance of rogue, meta, and pure jank to keep things interesting and people at all skill levels. I've found the best strategy though isn't to make the actual tournament the number one focus. Because if you need to win to have a good time, you probably won't always have a good time. So I try to crack jokes, talk to people, and make sure my opponent is enjoying the game. If there are kids or new people I try to introduce them and help them learn the game. If there are moms I try and flirt with them a little because watching a bunch of grown men play a children's cardgame you don't get is boring as hell(this is a joke). I play goats and trade in between rounds so even if I go home x-4 I still feel like there was a reason to show up.
