Functioning but sick of coping on own.

Is it wrong im taking the drug to make things easier when, with a whole lot of stress and effort and anxiety/tiredness because of, I can still function?

Your phrasing here was a bit confusing, but I think I got the jist. You're asking if it's wrong to take the drugs when you CAN live without them, but the drugs make things "easier"?

No. Take them. At a certain point there becomes a fine line between taking a functional medication and developing a dependency on one. People who think they can only create music high are dependent. People who "can't survive the morning" without coffee are dependent. I don't have a dependency on Vyvanse, per se, but I do NEED it if I want to function the way I know I'm capable of. I've always been confident, but I'm amazed at how much the medication actually changed the way I think at a very basal level. ADHD isn't a mental block, it's a chemical imbalance. I made it through high school, my bachelors degree and 6 years of professional life without the drug. I too can function without it, but my quality of life and even my opinion of myself has gone up dramatically since starting my medication.

If you really feel the need to stay "clean", take a med vacation now and then. If I don't have house work to do (we're renovating and framing/hanging drywall without my meds takes many hours longer) I'll usually take a Saturday or Sunday off. Take it for a while, see how it affects your life, and go from there but I'm willing to bet you'll see a drastic improvement. I really wish I had access to medication when I was in school. I got the degree, but it took 6 years with a 2.7something gpa. Don't ever be too proud to accept a helping hand.
