It's funny going thru r/music, pages back during previous days. 13,914,356 subscribers yet sure see a lot of enthusiastic thread posters who get an ignored 0 and no comments. Somehow everybody ignores them, letting them know to fuck off and die. hahaha. We don't want any of your 2 cents. lol.

Here.. I'll write an essay wondering about analyzing the situation. haha.

It's odd, eh.. for someone to notice anything in the new tab, they'd have to manually check it. That wouldn't show up on a typical average user's front page feed. So what you have are people specifially going thru r/music's new tab. Somebody posts something it can go to 0 pretty quick too if you check the time it was submitted.

Happens on other default subreddits like askreddit or showerthoughts. Someone 'll get back to you right away. Maybe get two, three comments to a shower thought or question. Maybe a couple upvotes or a 0. Nothing ever gets going and makes the subreddit's front page, nevermind the whole site's front page. Then it gets buried very fast and it's dead. Can leave it for a few days and nothing changes.

It's a little different in music because it's more inactive. Considering how many "subscribers" you'd think checking pages back wouldn't get to previous days so quickly. Anybody posting can sometimes make the subreddit's front page if it gets to only half a dozen upvotes. That's pretty pathetic but if you check other default subreddits, it's similar and can be worse.

For example, the other day, I couldn't believe it, on I think a Saturday I go to post in r/getmotivated. 10M "readers". "Weekends: Discussion & Text Only". Usually people have short attention spans for anything these days and discussion days are even more inactive. I post something and it was 2nd from the top of the front page! You have the one which makes it to the whole site's front page and after that nobody cares at all. haha.

People are pretty cranky around here. Most subreddit mods are fouled up because the site is dead. So they're king crap ruling over nobody. Gets even worse on ones which aren't default. All these rules about posting meanwhile nobody's around. So they crack the whip even more. Whoever's left browsing the site, seems pretty grouchy. I think it's these mods causing them to be like that. Must conform to the rules. And it's pages long. I guess most people are crabby because no one's around and they feel like losers or something. It's like being in a bar with a handful of people in it, you feel like a loser. haha.

So what gets upvoted in r/music. Well for anything to get an upvote they'd have to have heard of the band name already. Only way an independent artist will get upvoted is if in the description they mention that, oh.. it sounds like so and so band you're familiar with. Then you'll get 3 upvotes. haha.

You have to think, ok what type of character has nothing better to do with their day than to click on a new tab all day long. Look at what makes the subreddit's front page. Around here, seems to be slanted towards like alternative rock or something. Hip hop doesn't do well around here. haha. Meanwhile look at how popular it is with plays. That's like the rock of the 70's these days. If it's a different genre, disrespected even worse. Let's just say you don't really see girl music on the front page.

So that's who's trolling the new tab. You never see anything new. It's usually bands who sold CD's from before the digital revolution around the mid 2000's when most people got phones. Before that, all the internet were losers in back rooms on desktop computers. Seems like whoever's left around here, are probably mainly those types of characters, frustrated about their go-nowhere lives. haha. Sorta like me, with nothing better to do. haha.

I don't vote on anything though. Leave that to others. I don't have time to click up or down on everything I check out. I can't waste clicks and damage my arms after being at this for 20 years now. Maybe it's like voting in politics, not too many people do from the sounds of it. However, somebody posting their song doesn't seem to get plays even if it has no votes so it sounds like nobody's around.

The guys are pretty cranky here though and anybody positive usually gets trashed. haha. That is if anybody even cares to look into threads. If you pitch-in trying to support an independent artist, others would be skeptical, thinking it's another of the band's accounts trying to pretend it's a fan or something. Nobody wants to be the one person in comments. It's suspicious. haha.

All of this is not encouraging for an independent artist trying to get their music out there using this subreddit. And this one's a default.. check anything else, first, how would you even find it. Well they have a list you can get to from up top. Was pretty funny, last night I looked up there and noticed they have a "social" tab. Never noticed that before. haha. Well click it... they got an r/music like twitter and facebook and stuff and only a few hundred fans. Nobody fucking cares about any of this. haha.

I guess it's because there's so many distractions you can do with the little bit of spare time you have left per day. Nobody wants to be the only one commenting because you feel like a loser and think, nobody's gonna read that, so why bother. Everybody does that so nothing going on. People want to be hanging out where others are. It's like a crowded bar.

The front page of the whole site does well. But months ago they rigged the vote count appearance and changed it. Before that, nothing would go over 10k votes. That's not many people in the world. To make it look like the site is happening they changed that so now it's way more k numbers. You can't hide the fact the site is dwindling though.
