Funturistic - Thumping Autumn [EDM/Classical] (2018)

Hello, r/Independentmusic community! Was checking the new reddit layout, left sidebar, they had the two main categories, Popular and All. The other day they added this third section, OC Original Content. When I clicked that, looked like photography, DIY, drawings, crafts. I thought they got included in this section by adding [OC] to the title. Didn't look like there was any music going on.

Then today checked out the OC area more. Noticed they had a few main categories and one of them was music. But when you click that, not much activity. It's almost like that category hot list is like a new tab. haha. However, that's good because you could get noticed.

I thought, how do you make posts to be in here. Doesn't look like it's by adding [OC] to the title. Because when you scroll down, some don't have it. Go to create a thread and notice, to get in there, it's this orange OC button on the bottom left.

Have to find some kind of music subreddit that has activated this new feature. But when trying to find a subreddit that permits plugging your own music, most don't like that. Doesn't look like there's any music subreddits which would have enough traffic to get a song in the main OC hot list. But that's ok, if they click the music category they'll spot new stuff.

I was wondering, which music subreddits are participating in this new OC feature. How do you find them? It suggests a few once you choose that category, then pick one from those 5. You could then type some other subreddit in that field. Tried r/music but then the orange OC button gets greyed out so if you'd post, doesn't show up in the OC section.

I guess you'd have to check this extensive list of the music subreddits:

https://old.reddit.com/r/Music/wiki/musicsubreddits

But I've been there before and most don't like pluggers. It's also usually limited to genres. What if you don't fit in with a particular genre.

So I remember this r/independentmusic over the years. It wasn't restricted to genres. But not much activity. The 4k subscribers is pretty good. Could be inactive accounts though. To get an idea of how many people are currently hanging around, it's this "here now" and that says 14. At least this is better than how some music subreddits only have a few hundred subscribers.

I did like how in the sidebar, it wasn't all uptight with mods that power trip. So it's one of the cooler music subreddits if you look around. Go check 'em. All kinds of "rules" to scroll down and pretty much everywhere on reddit it's like walking on eggshells. Post something, you can expect an inbox notification from an auto-mod going.. blah blah blah your post was removed. So this idea of "there is no moderated censorship".. that's very rare around Reddit.

What you want though, is some kind of busier music subreddit that allowed plugging your own stuff. Something with the kinds of numbers that'd get you on this main OC hot list. But that'd be like 1 to 2k upvotes. If you check the music subreddits, and then narrow it to who allows plugging.. there isn't any.

At least in r/music, you have the "I made this" flair posts.. but they haven't activated the OC yet. Even then, the other year I made a bookmark of only those "I made this" flair posts.. Check out how they're doing. haha. 1's and 2's and downvoted 0's.

It's not very good. Then you can sort by past year or all time. None of 'em make the front page of r/music. They're only interested in established artists they already heard of.

So I don't know.. it's kind of neat how r/independentmusic is participating in this new OC feature. I bet a lot of the other music subreddits, don't even know about this. And then they're all uptight about plugging. So even though it's quiet around here, you guys are pretty cool compared to when you browse around.
