Future is unsupported

First off, you sound like an asshole. "Anyone with even basic programming skills"? Get over yourself.

Secondly, if you're going to insult me for disagreeing with you, here goes:
- hard-coded leap years doesn't explain a damn thing. They could've hard-coded them up to the 15th year.

  • certificates are renewed when they need to be. If you must sign an application, you undertake the responsibility of updating the signed app every 1-2 years. No application signing certificate lasts 10 years. If there's a mechanism for updates, this problem is already handled. Under certain schemes if you timestamp the code, the certificate will still expire but the app will remain certified forever.

I'm not saying it's not laziness, I'm saying none of the answers you gave actually explain this and the truly lazy way to do this would've been to use the code that already exists and does things properly.
