G1 Climax: Understanding Japan’s Most Prestigious Wrestling League

Yeah, even just trying to book it in something like TEW makes it kind of hit home just how grueling it must be and how amazing it is that they perform at such a high level while wrestling pretty much every day for it's entirety. Even just in that program they were knackered pretty quickly and getting injured. It makes me wonder how far in advance they have the G1 planned out and booked, like if they have it all tentatively worked out how the block standings well end up months ahead.

I did a Best of the Super Juniors the other day that I at least bothered saving the standings and stuff for. Ended up sort of having little storylines, I guess, developing as I did it. Like the B Block was a little bit more stacked than the A Block, and it was KUSHIDA trying to earn a shot to claim back the title and missing out after ballsing up against Romero and Taguchi and letting Ospreay and Scurll get ahead of him. And then the A was just Hiromu (the champion) rampaging through everyone all year, with Ricochet playing catch-up the whole tournament after losing early to Takahashi, then the final day adding insult to injury with Takahashi losing while Ricochet won and he only missed out on the Head to Head. Ospreay ended up beating Takahashi in the final.

tl;dr: I think round robin tournaments are so much more interesting than straight knockout.
