Game night canceled

Don't lose hope! I am in my 30s as well. I just recently got a semi-regular group together. It takes way more work to organise, and it is not nearly as regular as if we were all younger, but it works. I think it has taken me around 2 years to accomplish. For some reason, it just took forever to find the right group. It felt like dating in a sense. It has been worth it though. It's a great group and we have the "right" games for it. But man did it take some time and work. I like the suggestion reccomending finding your local board game night.

I also wouldn't dismiss gaming with your wife and family. My wife and I have also started playing games that are good 2 player games. It's not the same as a gaming group, but it scratches the board game itch. We have also started playing games with our young kids - We are trying to sow the seeds young for the future. I see families like /u/wil 's and really believe that there is something there. I know my family has gotten much closer through gaming - it allows us all to put down the phones and connect.

Sorry if this is long winded, your post just really reasonated with me. I was in your shoes last year. I LOVE board games and it has taken me forever to get anyone to play with me. I spent about 3 or 4 years without any regular group. Before that, it was a group that met about once every 3 or 4 months. My group now meets every other week and is going strong. It sucks right now, but you will find the right group.
