The game is starting to die again. Can it be fixed? (Discussion)

I think Evolve is mainly suffering from a combination of poor matchmaking and lack of content. The matchmaking just makes things frustrating for new and old players. Veterans get paired with new players who they cannot carry, or against them for matches that are so one-sided they become a bore. New players are turned off because they either can't keep up or get shut down by more experienced players. It's a bad situation for everyone, turning both old and new away.

Content on the other hand... like, sure, I get it. It's a free game and you can only complain about what you're getting so much before you come across as entitled. But let's face it, if you don't give players much to do, they aren't going to stick around. Legacy had 14 maps and quite a few modes, there was something to retreat to if you grew bored or frustrated without the need to close the game out. That's huge for player retention, which lets you begin to monetize, which lets you keep the game alive.

I said it a while back, that September was going to be Stage 2's make or break month. The only major thing we got besides Slim's refactor was the reintroduction of Behemoth, and look at the numbers that pulled in. I think we've past the point where new content is going to have a significant draw, which is a very bad sign.

Basically, I don't know what can be done at this point.
