The Game of Thrones’ finale script has been published. It’s absolutely horrendous.

So Kit Harrington, knowing his character understands what "long past caring about himself" looks like for Jon Snow

This is overstepping some major creative control territory, though. The screenwriter, director and actor should be treated as three separate creative entities and respected as such. Even at surface level, in what world would an actor who's dedicated years of their life want to be told their character "doesn't care about themselves?" All humans care about themselves. It could be argued only greed exists and generosity is a means to selfishness and ones own desires. A director may interpret this differently as well as the actor.

These two men have wildly overstepped creatively and shows in the final product and the fallout from cast and crew.
