Gamers of reddit, what is your favorite memory of all time related to playing video games?

I was playing a MMORPG for a year or so, was in a guild and had “friends” in the guild- one thing you learn is that no one is what they appear to be in game. I saw how some guys would fall for a hot girl in game only to find out the 21 year old girl was really a 45 year old fat guy named Chuck living in his moms basement- so I never flirted in game because who wants to flirt with Chuck?

One day a girl who played a saucy minx in the guild said she had to log off to get sexy, she had a hot date. She logs in 3 hours later and is PISSED. She had been stood up and the guy was ignoring her calls. She said “I am crying about this asshole and that just pisses me off more! “ and talked about how hard she worked on getting ready. I knew this girl had some tragic real life events recently and I decided to see if I could help.

I sent her a PM asking if she wanted to hang out, chat and do some quests. She said yes and we hung out in some obscure zone hunting some rare spawn. We did not have a voice chat set up so we did all of our chatting the old way, qwerty style. We stayed up for hours talking about life, work, family, and friends. I enjoyed our conversation but thought nothing of it the next day.

A few weeks later this same girl told us she would be missing a raid for in 2 weeks for a operation. I knew she was a bit scared and we chatted for a while again- she was really nervous about the surgery and i stared to think about what I could do to help. I had her give me the hospital and her RL name and her digits- we exchanged info- I started to get worried for her - like I was anxious! I got bold and sent her some orchids for her recovery room as a get well.

Long story short - she got a PI to check me out, we met in an airport a year later (awkward!) - a year after that we moved in together and stopped playing our MMORPG. We got married 2 years after that. We have kids and we love hanging out with each other. We have fights but we get over them because we both listen well.

She wrecked my gaming life but I have never been happier.
