Back when players cared about their performance rather than a good picture.

I feel like this might be just a bit of an over-reaction.... "back when the game wasn't about fancy Instagrammodel" all the players you listed played at a time when the most famous footballer in the world (Beckham) was becoming globally famous for not just being good, but by being a model and everything else.

Social media might make everything more accessible and that's a huge reason why players will sometimes use it too much, but it's far too easy to go "damn these players don't care" - we didn't have social media years ago, but I reckon we'd be going "they care about partying and drinking rather than performances" if we did.
