This is why people should never give animals as Christmas gifts

If someone wanted a pet more than just talking about it in passing, they’d adopt it themselves.. “oh I’d love to have a little border collie puppy they’re so cute!!” Doesnt always mean they want to have one 24/7 or have the lifestyle they have supports a pet (ie lives alone and is gone a lot)

Children never end up caring for the the animal so it becomes the parents responsibility, who can get burned out with new puppies while also having children to take care of.

People who read this - please don’t give kittens or puppies as gifts unless you’re willing to take care of the pet yourself
